Broken down on a French motorway (autoroute)?
On motorways and expressways, only the operator's approved breakdown company may intervene. Stand behind the safety barrier wearing your high-visibility vest, then use an orange emergency phone (one every 2 km, it gives your exact location) or dial 112. For vehicles over 3.5 t the motorway tow price is not regulated.
Once your truck is off the motorway — at a service area exit or a workshop — you are free to choose who continues: we can repair it on site, tow it to the workshop of your choice or transport it on a low-loader.
Truck breakdown services in France
Roadside repair
24 V starting, air lines and brakes, AdBlue and engine faults, electrical problems: a mobile HGV mechanic with a multi-brand diagnostic tool. Call-out and first hour included in the price.
Heavy towing
Suspended tow by a heavy wrecker, propshaft removed, to the dealer, workshop or secure truck park of your choice. Firm price for the stated distance, tolls included.
Truck tyre service
Puncture repair or a new tyre fitted on site: 315/80 R22.5, 315/70 R22.5, 385/65 R22.5, 295/80 R22.5, 17.5" and 19.5", twin wheels and trailers.
Recovery and uprighting
Winching out of mud or a ditch, uprighting an overturned truck with two heavy wreckers or a crane, load transfer when needed.
Low-loader transport
Over 150 km, a planned low-loader move for a rigid truck or a tractor unit, usually far cheaper than towing.
Buses and coaches
Coach towing with a wrecker sized for its length and overhang, once passengers are safely off.
How much does heavy truck towing cost in France?
These examples come from the same price grid as our online quote, for a weekday daytime job. Your price depends on the vehicle, its load, the distance, the time and the place. Night work (10 pm – 7 am) adds 45 %, weekends and public holidays 25 %.
An online booking takes a 99 € card deposit, deducted from the balance. Companies get a full VAT invoice.
Prices include French VAT (20 %); the amount without VAT is shown below each price.
